Was also liking to have another distro around to help out others. If they were on your (no longer existing) Mate 13 install, hold off on those until you install it again. You won't have that issue with a normal installation. Are you new to LinuxQuestions.org?

This will delete all packages from your apt cache. Another option that I think is really good if you really want to learn Linux is Slackware, the oldest Linux distribution still being used. If the packages aren't already on the system it will download them first.
